Wedding Outfit

I couldn’t quite find the perfect outfit for my wedding day.. so as usual when that happens I made one!

Consisting of a steampunk inspired double-breasted waistcoat with stand up collar, a Victorian era shirt with removable collar and a custom cravat.

I submitted the cravat to an instructables competition for which I won a runner up prize – I made the whole thing from scratch including designing and printing the fabric. You can check it out on

The waistcoat was a real challenge, mainly due to the silk fabric I chose to use, but it was great fun and i plan to make another in tweed.

I love the shirt and wear it regularly. I plan to make some more, including one using fabric inspired by some tissue paper I received a gift in. First I have to master pattern repetition!
